New Research Results – Gaming May Not Be So Bad Afterall

March 20, 2008

OpenEducation.net is featuring a three-part article that reviews the results of new video game research. Now, before you roll your eyes and click away, this article may actually surprise you, because it’s POSITIVE.

Yes, folks, these Dr.’s actually spent time with families who game and were astonished to learn that gaming is not all that bad. Better yet, they published their results in a new book called: Grand Theft Childhood, The Surprising Truth About Violent Video Games.

Now, I know the results of the study are not going to be news to most of you, but what is news, is that after this study; these Dr.’s, and the author of the above article, all had new perspectives on gaming.

Is it possible? Could this research study be the beginning of…*gasp* acceptance by the medical and educational communities?

Do we care?

I think we should, because the gaming industry will only get bigger – and better – when more people jump on board. I know that gamers all over the world will continue to enjoy their favorite pastime, with or without the elitist support. However, I hope that more studies, like this one, can convince those who were once skeptical to join in on the fun.

Happy gaming,

MDX
